A Minnesota State Patrol trooper, who was injured in a crash on a frontage road in Lakeville on Tuesday night, is thanking people for their support as he recovers at the hospital.

Sgt. Mike Krukowski was on a routine patrol, when another vehicle went off I-35 at a high speed and struck his squad vehicle near Kenrick Avenue and 205th Street. The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center.

State Patrol told Fox 9 Sgt. Krukowski is in "satisfactory" condition.

Sgt. Krukowski and his wife posted several pictures on the State Patrol twitter account before he went into surgery Wednesday.

"Everyone, thank  you for your prayer and support," he said in a video on Twitter. "Looking forward to getting out of the hospital and might be a bit of a journey, but I'm going to recover."
