Alaska Airlines resumes operations after an IT outage grounds flights for hours

Alaska Airlines operations resumed Friday after the company had to ground its planes for hours due to an information technology outage.

The Associated Press reported that the grounding Thursday impacted Alaska Air and Horizon Air flights.

In a statement obtained by the Associated Press, Alaska Airlines said that 229 flights were canceled because of the outage and that more flight disruptions were expected as it worked to "reposition aircraft and crews."

The airline told the AP that it is working on getting travelers affected by the disruption to their destinations.
