Mia’s Dante Tapestry on display for first time in 70 years

The largest Italian Renaissance masterpiece in the United States has been in storage at the Minneapolis Institute of Art for nearly 70 years. A grant from The European Fine Arts Foundation made the extensive conservation treatment possible, allowing it to be hung once again for display. It was woven in the 1540's, designed by Francesco Salviati for a palazzo in Florence. Due to its sensitivity to light, it can only be exhibited for a limited time. The fully restored “The Meeting of Dante and Virgil,” will be on view through January 31, 2027.
