Walmart is recalling more than 4.4 million grill brushes because the brush’s small metal wire bristles can detach and pose a risk of serious injuries if they are swallowed.

What we know:

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says more than 4.4 million Walmart Expert Grill metal wire brushes are being recalled.

The brushes have black plastic or stainless steel handles and some models come with a metal scraper attached, the agency’s website states.

The recall includes the following models:

  • Expert Grill 16-inch Steel Fiber Scrub Brush and Scraper for Grills, Model EX5607031616002, distributed between January 2025 and August 2026.
  • Expert Grill Handheld Steel Fiber Scrub Brush with Ergonomic Handle for Grill Cleaning, Model EX5607031616003, distributed between January 2025 and August 2026.

The items, manufactured in China, were sold at Walmart stores and online at Walmart.com between January 2021 and August 2026. The cost for the items ranged from $1 to $28.

Why you should care:

Metal brush bristles could break off, sticking to the grill or food. That could pose a risk that someone might accidentally eat the bristle pieces, which could cause serious internal injuries that could require surgery.

What you can do:

"Consumers should stop using the recalled grill brushes immediately and contact Walmart for a full refund or a credit for use at any Walmart store or Walmart.com.," The Consumer Product Safety website states.

No injuries have been reported so far, the agency said.
