Cold weather delays Minnesota vaccine shipments

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has placed a hold on some vaccine shipments due to the extremely cold temperatures.

Shipments for the Minnesota Vaccines for Children Program (MnVFC) and the Uninsured and Underinsured Adult Vaccine Program (UUAV) have been put on hold, the Minnesota Department of Health said in a press release.

MnVFC works to make all vaccines accessible and affordable for all children. The UUAV program provides vaccines to 180 sites throughout the state for uninsured and underinsured adults.

“This was a fairly routine communique to providers in the MnVFC and UUAV programs, passing along information from CDC to states affected by extreme cold," the MDH told Fox 9.

Vaccine shipments will resume early next week when temperatures are expected to be back to normal.
