Chrysler is recalling 456,287 cars connected to a light brake problem that could boost the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
NHTSA officials noted that the affected vehicles contain an "improperly designed trailer tow module," and this might result in lights on attached trailers failing to light up or may cause trailer brakes to fail altogether, reducing visibility and increasing crash risk.
