2 dead after shooting in St. Paul

Police say no suspects are being shot but did say five children were in the home at the time of the shooting.

Two people were killed in an apparent murder-suicide in St. Paul Tuesday night. Five children were home at the time of the shooting.

Police say they received a call around 9:15 p.m. from a child inside a residence on the 2000 block of California Avenue East saying a man and a woman had been shot dead.

Responding officers found the man, later identified as 33-year-old Yia Xiong, and a 30-year-old woman, identified as Ka Lor, both dead of apparent gunshot wounds. The St. Paul Police Department said the preliminary investigation alleges Xiong had shot and killed Lor and then killed himself, according to Wednesday's press release.

Five children under the age of 10 were in the home at the time of the shooting. They are currently staying with family. Police added Xiong and Lor were parents to all five children and had been in a relationship for approximately 10 years.

Police say no additional suspects are being sought at this time, and there is no known threat to the public.

The case remains under investigation.
