The Minnesota Aviation Rescue Team saved a 62-year-old woman from a wooded area south of Split Rock Lighthouse near Lake Superior Monday afternoon after the woman fell and injured her hip while hiking, according to a news release.

The team used a helicopter to remove the woman from the rocky area where she was stranded.

The Minnesota Aviation Rescue Team is comprised of members of the Minnesota State Patrol and the St. Paul Fire Department. They were called in as aerial support to assist the Lake County Rescue Squad, who was unable to move the woman with their resources.
