1st Vikings game at U.S. Bank Stadium gets rave reviews

Minnesota Vikings fans traveled from all over the country to see the first preseason game at U.S. Bank Stadium Sunday and most gave it rave reviews.

“I actually can't wait for the regular season,” said Lindsay Lundeen, a Vikings fan. “It was pretty loud for a preseason game, so I think the regular season is going to be awesome. I actually can't wait for the regular season.”

“I’m a little surprised. This has about 4,000 more seats than the [Metrodome], but it looks so much bigger,” said Jeff Brletich, another Vikings fan. “It’s beautiful.”

Fans had to brave long lines at the security checkpoint, and crowds on the concourse for most of the game. But, most were forgiving.

“I felt like there were a lot of people walking around and just taking it all in,” Lundeen said. “I think as we get in there more and more, we’ll get more used to it too.”

Attendance at Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers measured 66,143, just shy of capacity for a football game. The next tune-up for the Vikings, their fans and staff at the stadium is Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams.
