Vikings concerned about Greg Olsen calling Sunday's game

The 7-and-2 Vikings take on the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday, but it's not just the Rams who have the team fired up.

That’s because Greg Olsen, current Panthers tight end, will help call the game on FOX.

Olsen, who’s been hurt since week two, is eligible to return to the Panthers in week 12 before they take on the Vikings just two weeks later.

Now, the Carolina player is getting an inside scouting scoop on the Vikings, and in a career full of ups and downs, it's a spot Olson has never experienced.

And if it was up to the Minnesota Vikings, it's likely a spot he'd never be in.

"You would think somebody at a high level would look at that and say, ‘that's probably not a good idea’” said Pete Bercich, former Vikings linebacker and broadcaster.

Bercich worries it could offer Olsen's team an unfair advantage.

When the Panthers play the Vikings next month, Olsen is expected to be active and healthy. But in the meantime, some worry Olsen could use this week's game to gather intel on the Vikings.

“He can get a lot from practice, just how they communicate, snap counts…all those kinds of things,” Bercich said. “And being on the sidelines during games, he'll be able to see who's making mistakes, who coaches are talking to."

The NFL and Olsen have said access will be limited and will not include practice or production meetings. The Vikings have relayed their concerns to the NFL.
