Air quality alert issued for southeastern Minnesota
(KMSP) - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued another air quality alert for southeastern Minnesota Friday from noon to 8 p.m. The MPCA cancelled an alert for the Twin Cities area and southwest Minnesota.
A combination of unseasonably warm temperatures, mostly sunny skies and high ozone levels moving in from other parts of the United States are expected to affect the air quality in the afternoon through the evening. Conditions are expected to improve after sunset.
The affected area includes Rochester and Winona.
Those at risk include people with asthma, breathing conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis and emphysema and children and teenagers.
People are advised to limit, change or postpone physical activity, reduce vehicle trips and avoid backyard fires.
