Average dates for our first significant snow

As we wrap up November and start December, we once again find ourselves with a chance of accumulating snow. We had a late start with our first measurable snow, .10” or more, but lets now talk our first “Significant” snow. Any snow that falls in the metro is significant but for this blog we will label significant as 3 inches or more. After a little research, I noticed a pattern of late November and early December as the time frame for the first 3” or better snowfall in the Twin Cities. Check out the graphic above for a look at when the metro experienced its first 3 inches of the white stuff.
