A new era of basketball dawns for Timberwolves

Wednesday marks the start of the Minnesota Timberwolves regular season 2016-17 for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and a new era of basketball with head coach Tom Thibodeau at the helm.

It’s a change at the top that has trickled down to early signs of success, but it's only getting started. In the preseason, the Timberwolves held opponents to 94 points per game – their best average in exhibition play in four years. It’s a defensive statement on the doorstep of the regular season, which tips off on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The team is sure to have a new look this year, but they are trying to make this season end with a new destination, an appearance in the playoffs for the first time over a decade.
