Multiple reported tornado touchdowns in southern Minnesota

There have been multiple reported tornado touchdowns in southern Minnesota, according to the National Weather Service. According to preliminary reports, tornadoes may have touched down near Randolph, Dundas/Northfield area, north of Faribault, north of Medford, south of Elysian and Granada. The official number of tornadoes will be confirmed by the NWS after crews complete their damage assessment surveys on Friday.

Strong winds knocked down trees and power lines in Waterville, Minn. The city will be going under curfew Thursday evening, starting at 10 p.m.

Camp Omega, a Christian camp in Waterville, is reporting "severe damage" at their campgrounds. According to a Facebook post, there are at least eight trees down, blocking the main road. They are asking for volunteers to bring chainsaws to help with tree removal on Friday.

In Granada, roads in and out of the city will be closed and the power will be out for at least 24 hours, according to Martin County Sheriff's Office. A shelter has been set up at the school.

According to Xcel Energy, about 85,000 customers were initially impacted due to the severe weather in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Crews will be working overnight to restore power. As of 9:43 p.m. about 30,000 customers were still without power from Mankato to Faribault to Eau Claire, Wis. For an outage map, click here.

Winds reached more than 60 miles per hour across the Twin Cities metro area from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
