Minnesota Rep. Rick Nolan joins LGBT Equality Caucus

Rep. Rick Nolan has joined the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, which serves as a resource for members of Congress on LGBT issues at the federal level.

“In a nation that considers ALL equal, #LGBT rights are a necessity,” Rep. Nolan posted to Twitter. “I'm honored to join @LGBTEqCaucus on this #NationalComingOutDay.”

Nolan, a Democrat, represents Minnesota’s 8th congressional district, which covers the northeastern part of the state, including Duluth and most of the Iron Range. Nolan is currently serving his third term of his second tenure in Congress. He previously represented Minnesota’s 6th District from 1975 to 1981.

Wednesday, October 11 is National Coming Out Day. The day was started by the Human Rights Campaign to raise awareness of civil rights issues for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
