One more time: Be careful on the ice

Authorities in Madison Lake, Minnesota are reminding the public that despite cold temperatures, the ice is not always safe. The regular reminders are becoming more frequent as more cars break through the ice.

According to the Blue Earth County sheriff's office, on Saturday alone, authorities received three reports of cars that went through the ice just southwest of Point Pleasant Resort and Campground. At 11:51 a.m. a caller reported a Ford Escape broke through the ice and became fully submerged. All three occupants were able to escape without injuries.

At 9:17 p.m., a Dodge Dakota broke through the ice and became fully submerged. All four occupants escaped without injuries.

At 10:13 p.m. a caller reported that earlier in the night a Chevy pickup truck broke through the ice and became fully submerged. All three occupants escaped without injuries.

The sheriff's office is working to spread the word and post more signs throughout the area.

On Thursday, a man escaped as his car fell through the ice on O'Dowd Lake in Shakopee, Minn.
