One dead following shooting in Minneapolis

A shooting left one person dead in Minneapolis early Friday morning.

Minneapolis police say they responded to a report of a shooting on the 300 block of 1st Avenue North in downtown shortly before 12:30 a.m.

Police arrived to render aid and search the area. No suspect was found and the victim was quickly transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred after an altercation between two groups escalated into gunfire.
