More than 600 crashes, 1,100 spinouts statewide in weekend blizzard

A mixture of sleet, snow and windy conditions swept through Minnesota this weekend.

By late Saturday morning, all state highways in south west Minnesota were closed, and plows were pulled from the roads. The Blizzard warning was expanded to the Twin Cities metro and rest of south central Minnesota until 7 a.m. Sunday. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, between 12:01 a.m. Friday and 8:45 p.m. Sunday there were 630 crashes (69 with injury) with 1,182 spinouts and 20 jackknifed semis. 

There were two fatal crashes; one in Medina Friday night, the other in Minneapolis Sunday.
