Teen killed in Andover hit-and-run

A 17-year-old boy from Nowthen, Minnesota, died in a fatal hit-and-run crash, according to the Anoka County sheriff's office.

Police announced Sunday they are treating the case as second-degree murder, and they have two suspects in custody, with one being sought.

Police confirm 17-year-old Daveion Maddox was taken into custody Sunday night. A juvenile police are not identifying at this time is also in custody. Authorities are still searching for 19-year-old Loren Gafner

Around 6:20 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a report of a teen down in the street in the 700 block of 141st Lane in Andover.

Friends told police 17-year-old Tristan Gene Robinson was hanging out with them when he went outside. The friends then heard a "dull collision sound followed by screeching tires." When they went outside they found their friend suffering from multiple injuries. They didn't see a vehicle.

He died at the scene. Investigators say his injuries are consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

Police say they are searching for a 2005 Mercury Montego, with Minnesota plate 450 NMR.

His friends and family are still shocked.

Fox 9 spoke with Robinson's aunt Tammy Edwards on Saturday. She said, "He was a very loving man, he was like a regular 17-year-old. He had his friends... he loved video games."

The family is now begging for the suspect to reveal himself.

"Just come forward and let this family have closure," Edwards said. "I mean my brother's destroyed... that was his boy. We just wanna know what happened."

Anyone who was near 141st Lane and Palm Street at the time who may have seen something is urged to call the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at (763)427-1212.
