Minnehaha Academy plans to rebuild upper campus in Minneapolis

Minneahaha Academy made the decision to rebuild its upper school at the same campus where a natural gas explosion occurred in August.

Although the visible damage of the explosion has nearly been cleared away, demolition continues as foundations must be removed before rebuilding can begin, the school said on their website.

Construction is set to begin in June. The school plans to reopen the campus at 3100 West River Parkway for the start of school in the fall of 2019. In the meantime, the campus found a home in Mendota Heights for the 2017-2018 school year.

Minneahaha Academy also has a lower and middle school campus in Minneapolis.

The school was on summer vacation when the explosion occurred. Two staff members died in the explosion and nine other people were injured.
