Maple Grove graduate competing on 'So You Think You Can Dance?'

Every season, the show "So You Think You Can Dance" introduces the world to a new crop of talented dancers. This year, a recent graduate of Maple Grove High School is stealing the spotlight.

Taylor Sieve has wanted to be a professional dancer since she was a little girl. Now, she's one step closer to making her dream reality.

"It's a very humbling experience. It's a lot of hard work. But it's something I've always wanted to do and experience, and now that I'm here it’s very surreal...very surreal," Sieve said.

After making it through the audition and elimination processes, the 2016 Maple Grove graduate made it to the top ten of "So You Think You Can Dance."

So far, the judges have praised her versatility and performances and said she is the dancer to beat.

"It's shocking to receive that praise from them because I wasn't shown a lot in the audition episodes. So to finally make it on to the live shows and receive that kind of praise, everyone is kind of like 'who is this girl and where did she come from?" Sieve said.

But Sieve has always made an impression.

For six years, she was a standout at the Larkin Dance Studio in Maplewood. She won Dancer of the Year and helped Larkin win Studio of the Year last year before moving to pursue a professional career in LA. But her biggest cheering section is still here in Minnesota.

"It's just been a blast. She's beautiful and talented. Just watching her grow up here and being on that show, she's like a different kid. She's all grown up and mature," her former coach, Michelle Larkin said.

Sieve may be taking center stage in the national spotlight, but she says her heart will always be back where it all began.

"The support I'm getting and have had from friends and family and the studio in Minnesota mean everything to me. I can't thank them enough, and I'd really like to make Minnesota proud," Sieve said.

See Sieve for yourself on "So You Think You Can Dance" next Monday night.
