Man dies in shooting near U of M Minneapolis campus

One man has died after a shooting early Sunday morning near the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

The mother of the victim told Fox 9 that her son, DeSean Daggs, 23, was killed in Dinkytown early Sunday morning. 

Officers from the university and Minneapolis police responded to the shooting at 2:15 a.m. on the 500 block of 12th Avenue SE.

When they arrived, they found a man dead with in the front yard, having suffered an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities also discovered another man had shown up at Hennepin County Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound stemming from this same incident.  

Investigators interviewed people at the scene and are following up on leads generated. No one is in custody at this time.
