Governor orders flags to half-staff for Conservation Officer Eugene Wynn's funeral

All flags must be flown at half-staff Friday in honor of Minnesota Conservation Officer Eugene Wynn, according to an order from the Governor.

Gov. Tim Walz issued the order Wednesday after Wynn was killed in the line of duty on Cross Lake near Pine City Friday night. Wynn’s funeral services are scheduled for Friday.

Wynn was an 18-year conservation officer who left behind a wife and two children. First responders across the state have paid tribute to Wynn in the days since his tragic death.

As is customary, Minnesota flies its flags at half-staff following the death of Minnesota first responders fallen in the line of duty on the day of interment at the direction of the Governor.

“Conservation Officer Wynn was an outstanding Conservation Officer who was admired and respected by his colleagues and served with dignity and pride,” said Walz in the proclamation. “The State of Minnesota recognizes Conservation Officer Wynn for his dedicated service to, and sacrifice fore, his fellow citizens with its deepest gratitude, and all thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and entire community.”

The Minnesota Senate also held a moment of silence for Wynn Wednesday. State Senator Jason Rarick presented the family with a Senate resolution in his honor.

Wynn's death is still under investigation
