The Isanti County Sheriff's Office rescued an over eager ice fisherman after he went through very thin ice on a lake near Cambridge.

The ice is not thick enough in Isanti County to safely ice fish or walk on, according to officials.

Authorities responded around 3:45 p.m. Monday when they received a call someone was out on Mud Lake near 319th Lane NE and Xylite Street NE.

Cambridge firefighters and a sheriff's office sergeant put on cold water suits and rescued the man who was about 50 feet off the shore. The man may have experienced mild hypothermia, but was in otherwise good condition.
