1 injured in officer-involved shooting in Maple Grove

One person is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting Wednesday in Maple Grove, Minn., according to a police spokesperson.

Just after 2 p.m., officials say police responded to multiple 911 hang up calls in the 9600 block of Trenton Lane, arriving at the house to find a man with a knife. Officers tried to use a Taser on the man, but it was ineffective.

During a confrontation, one officer shot the man. Emergency crews took the person to North Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.

A man who lives next door to the house where the man lived says he's not surprised at the source of the commotion after seeing police called to the house multiple times before.

"If there's something going on in the neighborhood it's probably going to be in that house," Jay Bremseth said after the incident. "Everybody else is pretty quiet around here."

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the case and says there is no threat to the public.
