Despite slippery commute, fewer than 50 crashes statewide

Thursday's expected snow totals.

Snow and ice have been making for a slippery morning commute. There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 12 p.m. Thursday.

Despite the weather, there were fewer than 50 crashes statewide on Thursday morning. From midnight to 10 a.m., there were 42 crashes, only four with injuries, 25 vehicle spin outs and six jackknifed semi trucks, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. While the metro has seen light snow, St. Louis County has seen the most with 6.6'' in Chisholm, 5.6'' in Cook, and 6.8'' in north Hibbing, according to the National Weather Service

We will update this story with metro accumulation totals and a crash report when those numbers become available.
