Prior Lake native wins The Bachelor, but gets heart broken anyways

- "The Bachelor" Arie Luyendyk Jr. would be wise to stay away from Minnesota after breaking the heart of Prior Lake native Becca Kufrin on the finale of the reality dating competition.

On Monday's finale, Luyendyk Jr. choose Kufrin,27, and proposed to her in Cusco, Peru. She is the first Minnesotan to "win" the Bachelor.

But Luyendyk dumped Kufrin several weeks later, telling her he wanted to try to make things work with Lauren Burnham, the runner-up. The breakup was filmed and shown unedited as part of the two-night finale event.

Minnesotans are not happy with Luyendyk Jr. for breaking the heart of the hometown girl. The Shakopee Police Department dared him to "drive fast" through the city and "see what happens."

State Rep. Drew Christensen, a Republican who's district includes Prior Lake, suggested banning Luyendyk Jr. from Minnesota.

"If this gets a thousand retweets I’ll author a bill banning Arie from Minnesota," Christensen wrote on Twitter. The tweet currently has more than 8,000 retweets.

He also asked his followers if he should invite Kufrin to be his guest at next week's State of the State address.

Kufrin will get her chance to confront Luyendyk Jr. and Burnham live when the second part of the finale airs on Tuesday night.
