You made it! Tuesday marks halfway point of winter

We've now officially made it halfway through meteorological winter, leaving just over two months left before Spring arrives in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

It's been a relatively dry season, with Minnesota seeing more than a 15 inch decrease in snow totals since October. That discrepancy falls to just six inches, however, from the period between Dec. 1 and Jan. 16.

Perhaps the biggest weather story this year is the cold, with a total of 16 days where the temperature never rose above zero.

To boot, Minnesota is about three degrees below average--leading many to hope they've survived the colder half of winter.
