The Twin Cities metro is bracing for significant snow accumulations by Tuesday evening with flakes that started flying Monday evening.

Minnesota State Patrol officials reported 128 crashes statewide between 1 p.m. on Monday and 5:30 a.m. today, 15 with injuries, none of them serious or fatal.

Snow returns to much of central and southern Minnesota Monday night through Tuesday night as a strong storm moves northward through the plains. This storm will interact with colder air across the region and spread snow across much of the region.

Winter Storm Warnings

Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for the metro and points southward for more than 6 inches of snow accumulation. The snow likely arrives near the dinner hour Monday night and will hang around with off and on heavy snow at times right into Tuesday evening.
