Storms weaken before moving into the area early Saturday; just bring some rain

What a wild overnight across portions of the Upper Midwest as storms developed in Montana & Wyoming, crossed the entire state of South Dakota, and ended up in Minnesota before dawn early Saturday. They packed a wallop to our west with wind gusts to 95mph and even a few tornadoes reported in South Dakota, but they weakened just as they crossed the border into Minnesota.

You can see all of the severe weather reports in the picture above with only 2 happening in Minnesota; relegated to the far southwestern corner. But some areas certainly got plenty of rain with 1-2" pretty widespread in the central part of the state, with the rest of the area generally under an inch. For most metro locations, rainfall totals were from a quarter to a half inch. Here is a look at the totals for your area… remember that your backyard totals can and will be drastically different than what is on the maps below because of the high variability that comes with convective rainfall.
