Storm Reports: Friday morning Heavy Rain

METEOROLOGIST STEVE FRAZIER @FRAZIERFOX9

Once again the metro wakes up in the path of another mesoscale convective system. What started out as severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings in the Dakotas, moved east across Minnesota in the overnight. Check out the progression as seen by our Stormvision radar while you were sleeping.

Unlike the last several overnight episodes, we escaped with mainly heavy rain. Below are the totals from across the state.

You can see a large stretch of 3 inch plus totals that approached the immediate metro before diving south toward the Iowa border.

Check out a few of the specific totals from some full rain gauges across the region.

4.25"  French Lake

3.95"  Freeborn

3.53"  Waseca

3.50"  Paynesville

3.40"  Meeker

3.18" Winsted
