In a season that has struggled to see its fair share of snow, we finally got a decent sized snow storm here in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In fact, the snowfall from Monday night into Tuesday morning was the biggest 24 hour snowfall since April 3-4, 2014, when we saw 6.5 inches. Browse through the slideshow above for the snow totals from our latest snow event.

Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport recorded 5.5 inches of snow this last go around. If you take a look at average, we are still in a deficit. The average snowfall for December is 11.5 inches, our second snowiest month. However, in this El Nino year, we have only seen 9.4 inches this December, about 80 percent of average. If you count the 2015-2016 winter season, we have seen 14.5 inches total, which is about 2/3 of the 21.4 inches that should have fallen so far.

Brighter and colder days will wrap up 2015, so it looks as if we will have to wait until next year to work on our snow deficit.
