Anniversary of the metro's hottest temperature

KMSP Minneapolis, MN - July 14, 2016 is the 80th anniversary of a milestone temperature in the Twin Cities. I know a lot of you may not have been around in 1936, but the ones that were around have quite the story to tell about that crazy weather year. Instead of your grandparents only telling you stories of how they walked uphill to school, five miles, in a blizzard, they can now tell stories of how they survived triple digit temperatures without air conditioning. Tuesday, July 14, 2016 marked the end of a five day stretch of 100°+ days, the metro's longest. The crowning jewel of that hot blast is the metro's hottest high temperature on record, 108°!

Not only did the Twin Cities record its hottest temperature ever in 1936 but it also recorded its coldest temperature ever, -34° in January of that year. Now that was a crazy 6 months!
