The state is now soaking up one of the first truly widespread beneficial rainfall events of the spring. Showers and storms developed across much of the area through Mother's Day and continue into Monday bringing some drought relief to the parched soils, especially in some of the driest areas. While this won't be a complete drought buster, you have to start somewhere and this was a pretty good jump into what will hopefully be a wet few weeks. Long range forecasting models continue to indicate a fairly active pattern in the Central U.S. While not a guarantee of rain, it shows that chances are looking up as we move forward.
