Twin Cities snowfall way below average

Since there is so much talk of a Midwest snowstorm this week, I decided to check out where the Metro lies as far as snowfall for the 2015-2016 winter season. Accumulating snow in the metro falls between October and April, although flakes have flown a bit earlier and later than those months. So far, we have recorded 18.7" of snow at Twin Cities International. The average amount of snow that should normally recorded by the end of January should be 33.5". However, as we all know, this season has been far from average. I guess we can blame it on El Nino, as we are only at 56% of where we should be for this time of year. It is going to have to be one heck of a snowstorm this week to get us to normal. If you're missing the snow, don't worry, the snow season still has a few more months to go.
