Snowless in Minneapolis

Check out these two photos and then file this story under "Cliche's That Mean Something".

The first picture was taken on February 2nd, 2014 looking outside the newsroom windows at FOX 9's Eden Prairie studios.

The second picture was taken around 4:30pm this, January 29th, 2015.

Notice any difference? Yeah, we did too.

So we checked with FOX 9 Chief Meteorologist Ian Leonard for some snowfall figures, and even we were a little surprised.

In January of 2014, we had grand total of 22.7 inches of snow…that was just in January. For the season that year, we had 33.3 inches…just a bit under the average for a full SEASON.

With two days left of January, 2015…we've only had 5.4 inches and Ian doesn't see much more in our future.

"It really does seem like the snowiest part of this winter has passed us by," Ian said Thursday. "I don't see any big snowstorms in the couple of weeks. But cold on the other hand…we are about to get a taste starting this weekend."

I guess if you want to go skiing, go to….Boston?
