There is slight risk for severe weather for much of Minnesota on Sunday, and the overall storm threat for the metro area is high.

While there will be a few isolated showers Sunday morning, the activity should wane pretty quickly after sunrise. Early Sunday morning, several viewers in areas like Braham and Stanchfield reported golf ball-sized hail.

Later in the day, heat and moisture levels will build up with a swampy, soupy day ahead. This will give the atmosphere plenty of instability to work with, which should lead to a pretty quick development of at least some scattered storms by the early to mid-afternoon hours. These could expand in coverage and intensity late today before falling apart after sunset.

The main threats with storms today will be large hail and very heavy rain, and the secondary threat will be gusty winds.

From 5 to 6 p.m., the metro area will be under High Threat, experiencing scattered strong storms

From 9 to10:30 p.m. the area will be under Moderate Threat for rain, but the overall threat drastically diminishes the later it gets.
