ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - Gov. Mark Dayton signed an emergency executive order on Friday that sends the Minnesota National Guard to help fight the Washington wildfires. The order will send 2 Blackhawk helicopters and the necessary personnel and equipment to carry out a mission that begins Friday and lasts up to 15 days.
Firefighters and the National Guard are fighting 15 active fires throughout the state of Washington, totaling over 230,000 acres. According to the Seattle Times, 3 firefighters were killed Wednesday while battling a fire near Twisp, Wash.
