Zombies, Packers fans cause traffic woes in Twin Cities

Streets will be closed throughout downtown Minneapolis this weekend as zombies and Green Bay Packers fans descend on the city.

SATURDAY

The Zombie Pub Crawl block party runs from 4 p.m. to midnight on Saturday in the Warehouse District. Streets in the area will closed from 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday to allow organizers time to set up and clean up the event. Only people who live and work within the closure and those who pay the entrance fee to the pub crawl will be allowed access. 

First Avenue North from 6th Street North to 3rd Street North will be closed completely and no vehicles will be allowed on the street. Local access will be maintained on 1st Avenue between 6th and 7th streets and on 6th Street from Hennepin Avenue to 2nd Avenue North.

Fifth Street and 4th Street will both be closed from Hennepin to 2nd Avenue.

SUNDAY

Streets around U.S. Bank Stadium will be closed on Sunday for the Minnesota Vikings game against the Green Bay Packers.

Beginning at 6 a.m., Chicago Avenue from 4th Street to 6th Street and Norm McGrew Place from 3rd Street to 4th Street will be closed.

Fourth Street from Park Avenue to Interstate 35W will close beginning at 9 a.m.

Kickoff is at noon.

I-35E CLOSED

Interstate 35E will be completely closed between Interstate 694 in Vadnais Heights and Interstate 35 in Columbus for the next two weekends so construction crews can make repairs on the pavement.

The northbound lanes will close at 10 p.m. on Friday evening and will remain closed until 5 a.m. on Monday.

The southbound lanes of I-35E will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23.
