Fatality in Elk River after driver runs red light

Minnesota State Patrol are investigating a fatal car accident in Elk River, Minn. on Saturday afternoon.

Around 12:34 p.m., a Chevy K1500 driven by an 18-year-old from Elk River was headed westbound on Highway 10 when he ran a red light and hit a southbound Nissan Altima broadside in the intersection at Upland Avenue. The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity has not yet been released.
