654 crashes recorded on Minnesota roads

The Minnesota State Patrol said there were 654 crashes statewide from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. after snow showered the metro on Thursday -- 589 of them happened before rush hour, and none involved serious injuries.

-Before rush hour between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., there were 589 crashes recorded statewide

-3 crashes involved Minnesota State Patrol squads

-87 involved injuries, none of them serious or fatal

-429 were spinouts/off-road incidents

-11 were jackknifed semis

3 State Patrol squads hit

Three Minnesota State Patrol squads were hit in Virginia, Brooklyn Center and Marshall. Thankfully, there were no injuries in the first two, but in both crashes, a trooper was tending to another crash when vehicles slid into the parked squads. The third trooper hit was able to drive himself to the hospital, Lt. Tiffani Nielson said.
