ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - After suffering an overtime loss Wednesday night to open the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Minnesota Wild are looking to bounce back Friday night in Game 2 against the St. Louis Blues.
The Wild posted a franchise-record 52 shots in Wednesday night's game, but it wasn't enough to overcome to Blues' goaltender Jake Allen. Left wing Zach Parise scored to tie it up with only 23 seconds left in the third period, but the team ultimately fell 2-1 in overtime.
But, the Wild are still "committed." The team is hoping to tie up the series with a win at home on Wednesday.
The Wild entered their fifth straight Stanley Cup playoffs coming off their best regular season ever, setting new franchise records for wins and total points.
The Wild have a home ice advantage for first round of the playoffs. They play their first two games in front of a home crowd at the Xcel Energy Center that broke records for attendance during the regular season. The Wild sold out all 147 of their home games, with an average of 19,701 fans turning out for each game.
The puck drops for Game 2 at 7 p.m.
