Wild fire head coach Mike Yeo

The Minnesota Wild have fired head coach Mike Yeo, effective immediately, after the team fell 4-2 to the Boston Bruins, losing their eighth-straight game on Saturday night.

Sources have told Fox 9 Iowa Wild head coach John Torchetti will serve as interim head coach, effective Sunday. Torchetti attended Sunday's practice and addressed the media.

Yeo, 42, tallied a 173-132-44 record with the club, and won two playoff series but never made it past the second round.

The Wild are currently 6th in the Western Conference and have gone 1-7-2 in their last 10 games.

“I would like to thank Mike for the hard work and dedication he provided behind the bench for the Minnesota Wild organization and wish him the best in the future,” said Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher.
