Minnesota Wild GM Chuck Fletcher out after 9 seasons

- Minnesota Wild have decided not to renew General Manager Chuck Fletcher’s contract after nine seasons with the organization.

The Wild made six straight Stanley Cup Playoffs under Fletcher's leadership, but rarely advanced beyond the first round. The team made another early exit this season after five games against the Winnipeg Jets. In a statement, Wild owner Craig Leopold said said he was grateful to Fletcher and his staff for building a "wining culture and a perennial playoff team," but he wants to bring a championship home to Minnesota.

"I feel it is time for a new approach aimed at delivering a Stanley Cup to the deserving fans of the State of Hockey," Leopold said.

Brent Flahr, senior vice president of hockey operations, will serve as acting general manager until a new general manager is found.
