Vikings release longtime long snapper Cullen Loeffler

The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday they're released long snapper Cullen Loeffler. Loeffler, 34, is the longest-tenured player on the team, and signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2004.

Kevin McDermott, 25, will take his place, and joined the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted rookie in 2013, but was with the Baltimore Ravens last season as an injury replacement.

"These types of decisions are the hardest part of our jobs. Cullen was outstanding in the community and on the field for the Vikings. He handled his business with class and his impact in the locker room and on the franchise were second to none. We wish him the best in the future," Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said.
