Vikings agree to contract extension with DE Danielle Hunter

The Minnesota Vikings agreed to a contract extension with defensive end Danielle Hunter, the team announced Wednesday.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports it is a five-year, $72 million contract extension, with $40 million in guarantees and a $15 million signing bonus.

The Vikings drafted the 23-year-old former LSU player in 2015. In 2016, Hunter became the youngest player to lead the Vikings in sacks with a career-high 12.5, the third best in the NFL and the most by any defensive end. He started all 16 games of the 2017 season.

In his career with the Vikings, Hunter has totaled 147 total tackles, 91 solo tackles, 25.5 sacks, 36 tackles for loss and 125 quarterback hurries.
