After breaking ground 10 months ago in August, the new Minnesota Vikings headquarters and practice facility in Eagan is starting to take shape.

The site is located off Interstate 494 and Lone Oak Parkway. The final steel beam was placed on the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center last week and the facility is set to open next year.

The performance center will hold an indoor practice facility, state-of-the-art equipment, training rooms and auditoriums and meeting rooms, the Vikings Hall of Fame and a team store as well as 88,000 square foot full service orthopedic center for any medical and health needs.

There will also be an outdoor practice field in a 6,000-seat stadium, which the Vikings also plan to use to host high school and college events.

The site includes 1,000 rental apartments where they hope staff and players can live and areas for hotels, public use trails, restaurants and retail stores.

As for training camp in Mankato, the Vikings deal runs through 2018, but there is an out clause this December. The Vikings haven't made a decision, but logic dictates if everything is ready, training camp could be held in Eagan in 2018, if not 2019.
