MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - It seems like a million years ago, yet at the same like it was yesterday.
Saturday night, the Minnesota Vikings face the Oakland Raiders in a pre-season game matchup at TCF Stadium. And an all-too-familiar name is expected to get some playing time.
One of the Raiders backup quarterbacks is ex-Viking Christian Ponder; and he’s not #2 on the depth chart officially yet. He will likely get some fairly extended playing time tonight.
In an interview earlier this week with the Bay Area News Group, the once great hope for the Vikings admitted he isn’t expecting the warmest of welcomes from the Purple Faithful.
“Oh, I’m going to get booed,” Ponder said. “I’m trying to figure it out….should I take a bow or what? What’s going to happen? I’m expecting some boos, but it’s all fun though.”
Most Vikings fans probably wouldn’t agree his time here was very fun. In his three-plus years here, Ponder threw more interceptions than touchdowns and most experts concur never lived up to the caliber of a 1st round draft pick.
So it begs the question: If you’re going to TCF Stadium tonight, or watching the game on FOX 9 at 7pm…will you boo Ponder?
