Vikings name Caledonia HS 1st Minn. Football Program of Year

CALEDONIA, Minn. (KMSP) - Caledonia, Minn. eats, sleeps and breathes football. The small southeastern town’s passion for the sport has been recognized by the Minnesota Vikings, who named Caledonia High School the inaugural Minnesota Football Program of the Year.
The Vikings “took over” the town of less than 3,000 people this week to honor the school’s football program.
Vikings staff hosted a football clinic for kids from kindergarten to 9th grade on Wednesday, while running back Matt Asiata, wide receiver Charles Johnson and wide receiver Isaac Fruechte – an alum of the Caledonia football program himself – met with the students Thursday to talk football.
As part of the takeover, the Vikings also presented a $10,000 check to Caledonia High School. A portion of the money will go to specific programs in the town to encourage all kids to “engage in their community,” according to a statement.
