'Space Jam' sales, rentals up after LaVine's dunk

The Minnesota Timberwolves' 19-year-old rookie Zach LaVine threw down some nasty dunks to win the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, and after his "Space Jam" dunk sales and rentals of the 1996 film have spiked, Wolves digital media director Bob Stanke confirmed.

Apple and Google would not be specific on figures from iTunes and Google Play.

Also of note, LaVine's Twitter following has increased nearly 50 percent since winning the contest. LaVine said he watched "Space Jam" growing up, practicing the dunks from the movie as a toddler on his mini hoop. He told Timberwolves.com team reporter Kyle Ratke that he simply doesn't know anyone who doesn't like the film, plus, you can't go wrong in a Michael Jordan Tune Squad jersey.
